Running stories, realizations, and breakthroughs tread the lifetime of any shoe.
In this personal project, I wanted to explore the ways in which I could communicate a chapter of my life through subliminal format and form. 500 Miles is a book spanning the months of June to October. Each month incorporates maps of runs I took through the city of Pittsburgh.
Running is a morning ritual that starts my day. In many cultures, folding parallels the practice of awakening and this informs the book’s final form. The viewer can open, close, and turn over pages to learn more about me.
